My First Device 1996

This is the first Medical Device I was involved in. We got the FDA 510K label approval in 1996. I came across this tonight. It is a peripheral catheter that prevented people (nurses) from getting squirted with AIDS-infected blood. A big issue in the 90s. I designed it and was Dir Eng of the product. It was my first FDA 510k approval. (1996) 30 years ago.

That is my hand, and Sam, my wife, put in my vein for the picture in Amesbury Massachusetts. (1998) The product was bought by Span America in 1998. I have done many devices since.

Belief

When people abandon belief in a transcendent, ordering principle (classically "God", the source of ultimate meaning, morality, and rational structure), they do not become cool, neutral skeptics who believe in nothing. Instead, they become vulnerable to believing in anything: ghosts, omens, shams, superstitions, conspiracies, pseudoscience, political messiahs, miracle cures, or whatever fills the void. The human mind craves belief. It is not built for sustained emptiness. Remove the "venerable edifice" of a coherent worldview, and something will rush in to replace it often something far less rational, more extravagant, and more dangerous.

Did you go to Friedrich Nietzsche? I sure did....

G.K. Chesterton did often say the below quote in various forms and the idea developed much inthe past, ohhhh 150 years.

Frequency... People are often citing "frequency" as a fundamental element in their substitute religion. It is by design, a meaningless term that sounds "wise." I attribute its use to a reflexive need to be seen as profound, superior, or sage-like. Just try it out. Say "frequency" in a mixed crowd (epecially neo-pagan pretenders) and watch the heads nod in agreement... It is amusing to see the social control that a simple word possesses.

I fall in the Chesterton camp. Without "God" people will believe in nonsense. Any kind of nonsense.

Since I am an engineer, I know what frequency is. I think low frequency is soothing and high frequency is agitating. Others think the opposite. So, in common parlance, the word has no workable meaning.

TINNITUS - Patent Writing Day

I have a working idea for the treatment of 20% of the world's TINNITUS

I know of a person who might just be interested in a venture-funded company effort to prove a therapy for a certain kind of tinnitus.

She is quite an expert and she renewed a past interest in a project where I measured tinnitus intensity.

I had a fortuitous cafe meeting with an old friend and mentor Chris and his brilliant son who is doing his PhD in Toronto. The conversation was lively and dense with GIGANTIC ideas. So much fun. We promised to continue the conversation. The spice of life.

Today is already a fantastic day. I was awake early and I immediately said a prayer and lumbered to my office and began to play GRACE in a manger by Oliver.

MEN - Be very dangerous.

We are turning to a new epoch, to the realm of the great moral battle with the supreme enemy. I have to say that I am surrounded by a cohort of very dangerous men. Strong, confident, righteous, imperfect, restrained, and VERY DANGEROUS.

They scare the hell out of me! The hell? The hell in me? They scare it out of me!

From the caldron of putrid life-hating feminism that tried to unmake men, have come supermen, with brains, balls and brawn and beauty and beatitude.

It is almost like the inversion of the demonic final insult against God's design and in the cunning of divine reason,....thus spake Zarathustra, ...and into the world cometh, a new race of men, born into a world with no future, despised, and their essence hated by their mothers....and unknown to their ineffectual fathers.

Born into a shit-filled rut in a road of whore-houses, sewers, and thieves.

But the demon knew he'd be undone. For in the filth, this new breed of perfected men cannot be deterred with their nuclear bomb of GRACE exploding in their souls. MY GOD I love them! I would die for any one of them in a horrifying ignominious death, exhausting my last breath to inspire their courage to crash through the monster's phony facade. Make a fertile plain for the new woman, protected by Adam renewed.

To My God, and without vanity, I pray God speed. I admire all of you young men.

It is both beautiful and terrifying but the woman survived and told me the story herself. She has the story on her blog and I saw a deeper journey like Dante's Paridiso, in the Divine Comedy. It is raw. A survival epic. I wonder if it is too much?

Christmas Eve

I just received this gift from Oliver Bieker, a dear friend who knows of my near life-long (40 years) pursuit, actually 45, of understanding of the Nature of Grace. (it is all I really think about in the quiet of my mind.) It is the main subject of contemplation during the exposition. "In your very essence, let me see you, and enter me."

Oliver took the time and effort to suppose my longing and the unresolved agony of my distance from the divine gaze.

I feel the Holy Spirit all around me. Had a great chat with a friend last night... one of those conversations of substance, a back and forth, of tender ideas... relaxed... framed the day off.

I am making some dressing today.. a small batch to share.

Potatoes, eggs, onions (very-fine-chopped), salt, pepper, summer savory, instant oatmeal, bread crumbs and lots of turkey fat.

This is the way my mother had me do it and I have grown accustomed to the spicy flavor and even yearn for it.

I think my daughter likes her own American-style "stuffing" which reflects her youth in the USA. :) of course.

It is unbelievable how much raw love and affection is spilling over into the world these past days. It is an OCEAN of charitable love and God's hand.

I have a sense that my deepest desires are heard and angels are all around me. Treasures abound.

We are all very busy busy with our obligations and duties but I will make time for those people have a special need this holiday. I pray for insight and guidance. I usually rely on my wife to steer the affairs of the Christmas events so I will see what surprises arise.

You know that I love you. I say it all the time. I say it because I mean it. I mean it because it is the will of God that I love you, and your are the effect of His love, beauty, truth, and goodness.

Handel's Messiah

I'll be looping this all day!

I chose this particular rendition of the messiah because of the stunning tenor opening of the oratoria with "COMFORT YE, MY PEOPLE". Solid, powerful, no florishes.

I love this work and Handel wrote it in 23 days. "Though the worms consume my body, yet in my flesh I shall see God" - Job 19:26. Oh people, please hear this sustained prayer. Colors and tears. The great Alleluia Chorus is really an Easter tribute but it has become a Christmas carrol unto itself. Why not? As initiated by King George II, we stand at the Alleluia Chorus in recognition and hope of the resurection. For Christmas we have "Unto us a child is given" a chorus of rousing beauty... "wonderful councillor, Almighty God, Prince of Peace"..... and "Glory to God"..."behold the King cometh unto thee"....My goodness!

The Quiet Obedience of Joseph

Masculine Suffering

Gospel – Matthew 1:18-24

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; 19 and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to send her away quietly. 20 But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; 21 she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanʹu-el” (which means, God with us). 24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife,

I am reading to frame my day, to infect my consciousness with an idea, an idea that has seized many of us.. in this illusion of time, which you may not apprehend.

My reflection on today’s readings:

It traces a thread that runs straight through Scripture: the reversal of Adam’s failure in the quiet obedience of Joseph, the wilful obedience of Mary despite the inevitable risk of shame.

Where Adam stood silent while the serpent deceived Eve, allowing sin to enter through inaction and neglect of his role as protector, Joseph acts with decisive faithfulness. He hears the angel’s whisper, believes what seems impossible, and shields Mary from scandal and danger. In that single act of protective love, taking her into his home, he becomes the guardian of the Incarnation itself. He corrects the ancient wound.

As Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers says "[Adam] stood there and did nothing while Satan destroys his Family".LINK to Deacon Harold stating this.

This contemplation rightly lingers on Mary’s fiat. Her “Let it be done to me according to your word” is the free, total consent that makes the Incarnation possible. The Holy Spirit does not override her will; He waits for it, honors it, and then overshadows her. In that moment, eternity enters time, the Infinite takes on flesh, and God becomes vulnerable, ultimately to the point of torture and death, so that the breach, opened in Eden, might be healed.

Joseph’s role is often understated, yet without his "yes", the Holy Family would not have been formed in the way God intended. He is the silent man of righteousness who makes space for the Savior to be born, raised, and hidden until the hour comes.

What is contemplated here is the great reversal: the New Adam (Christ) undoes the disobedience of the old through perfect obedience unto death, and the New Eve (Mary) undoes the refusal through perfect surrender. But Joseph stands as the quiet restorer of the husband’s vocation: to guard, to protect, to sacrifice self for the beloved, even when the cost is misunderstanding and shame.

Let the wonder of the Incarnation seep into your consciousness, reminding all who ponder it that God entered history not in power, but in weakness, trust, and love.

And men, take life-ending risks, defend righteousness, for God's sake, to the benefit of our wives and our daughters, so that they see men properly.

My sisters, what did God save for last? Perfectio Creationis. “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh…” It is you my beautiful sisters, my wife and my daughters. Most women today do not know what we men have long known. We were in solitude without our wives. God saved the best till last. Woman, the ark of continued creation, the house where the human soul is created. Woman, God's gift to her protector. It is amazing.

Ladies, choose your protector, the father of your children, the man who will die at your feet, sacrifice his life, his reputation for God's sake to your benefit. Joseph said yes. That was a real man. The liar slithered in the branches and seduced Eve with whispered empty promises, a cocktail of deception, in service to its own ends.

Peter and Paul Served Elections Nova Scotia Today

Elections NS was Served with a notice that their actions violated the Canadian Charter of Rights

Peter and I drove around Halifax and Dartmouth serving the Attorney General of NS, the Attorney General of Canada, and Elections Nova Scotia with a Notice of Constitutional Challenge. There are subtleties in law and procedure in having done so at this time which is why we are are pretty happy sitting on my steps. Since there is a Charter Challenge within a judicial review, the the rules governing disclosure are quite beneficial to the applicants... US! Also it is difficult to have the case tossed due to justicability since a Charter Challenge de-facto requires examination by a justice. A good day. The notices are on my lap.

December 21, 2025 is the solstice.

About 3 km off shore from Lawrencetown is Half Island Point and another 3 km more is Shut Island Shoals from where the Sun will seem to rise at 7:46:57 am. I WILL NOT BE THERE DUE TO WEATHER. It is interesting to watch. The sun blinks above the water all at once it seems. It is also the shortest day of the year by 2 seconds. Coffee, a blanket and a blink!

Poor Sampson had a boo boo

Sampson spent some time at the vet last night. He is such a calm dog. He looked pretty drugged up last night. I hope he feels better in the coming days. Giant sweet animal.

Looking forward to some time in Hubbards with Oliver and Kirsten and their cheese soup. Their hospitality is infectious. I will not be drinking their concoctions however.

The weather is messy with wet-ish snow but the drive is on the new and beautiful 103. Looking forward to Mass.

Reading case law etc regarding a Notice of a Constitutional Challenge

I plan to tidy the yard up a bit before the snow becomes a problem and treat myself to a cozy fire and a hot cup of tea... maybe tomorrow. Too much going on right now.

....sometimes just thinking is the task at hand.

What is she saying? She wants security. Many young men are cell-phone-addicted, video-game-playing, useless wankers. Find a job.. a real epic vocation, one that is so rough it just might KILL YOU.

Become terrifying, formidable, dangerous and IN CONTROL of your behavior.

I Have Had Better Days but --coffee today is special

Hi Folks. Today is one of those days that one waits a lifetime to experience. I had the sleep of ages last night. Why? I was held aloft by angels yesterday. Tired, I went to bed and slept without dreaming for 7 hours and I awoke at 4:30 am thinking... "I love you my Lord and my God."

Peter Mac Isaac and John Hurley and I put a cherry on top of the great work done by you all.

So right now, at 6:30 am I am playing a beautiful tune, drinking a coffee so yummy I can't wait for the next sip... and reflecting on the magnificent dance of love and mutual support we all have enjoyed, but especially, that I have felt these past weeks.

I would name you all but I need your permission first, so I'll be asking later today!

We Came from NOTHING?

Do you have the slightest notion of what "NOTHING" is? Nothing is not an empty space. Space, even empty, is still space. Space is something. I have to rely on principle to imagine what NOTHING is. In fact, using the word "is" is probably a logical error. So too then is suggesting that NOTHING "is". I think that nothing, in its purist form, is not even an idea of anything. To possess the idea alone attributes something to nothing. NOTHING is even less than that. To imagine nothing is creation of a sort. What a pickle! Nothing is even less than the idea of itself.

Recently Elon Musk shocked the world. again, by speaking the obvious:

By universe I derive "Everything" as the meaning. So "EVERYTHING" which is all that there is, came from something. But Everything possesses the constituent something, the something from which it came unless it is apart from everything. Everything, something and nothing.

The only way to reconcile Elon Musk's seemingly internally inconsistent utterance is to include the implied unmoved mover as that which is apart from everything, that is in exception to and also apart from nothing.

So poetry becomes the language...

As E. Michael Jones put it: "Three persons were in so much love with each other that it overflowed as beauty, truth and goodness, which is being itself, and all that there is." That was the creation of Everything from Nothing, the unmoved mover, the trinity of love, ideated beauty.

He did as he was told by his mistress, as he used to call our Blessed Lady, and very soon came down to where she was standing with his cloak full of what tradition describes as rosas de Castilla frescas olorosas y con rocio...Our Lady took the roses in her hands and after gazing a while upon them gave them back to Juan Diego, who put them into his tilma.

SWAY GAME Update! - WIN 1 MILLION DOLLARS

I have received enough bottles to easily conduct the SWAY GAME complete with pre and post game calibration, labeled sample bottles. I am making grid arrays to easily preserve order and control during the game. The first game will be with refined sugar vs natural maple syrup from a glass bottle at the request of the game contestant. Holistic medicine scammers caught red-handed - 60 Minutes Australia

I happen to admire Holistic Nutritionists and Natural Healers. I also like the Healing Ministry within my Catholic Faith. I also work with and love conventional medical healers who do surgeries and treatments in our hospitals. Good people willing the good, and making their patients and adherents better. I have seen healing done across the spectrum.

Since I am a professional engineer involved in the development of medical interventions, (No drug or food interventions) I make it my business to support friends and family in their choices for care, be it proper nutrition or complicated surgery. I am not a practitioner so I do not like to offer health advice, even if I think I know what the situation is for a sick person. But as friends enter into care, be it a surgeon or a massage therapist providing the care, I pay close attention.

I am aggressive in defending my friends and family if they are being mistreated. Mistreated by a Harvard Medical School Psychiatrist or a Chiropractor or a Shawman. Performance means everything to me. I am not easily impressed with credentials. I worked in Boston between 1995 and the present, and it is arguably the city with the best medical systems on earth. I have witnessed many wonders. Most times credentials are a good indicator of an honest attempt at a treatment with a high probability of success. But I have seen too many exceptions. Similarly, I have seen friends treated through the Catholic Healing Ministry, and I have seen friends treated by Naturopaths and Holistic Nutritionists. Again, results matter.

I am biased to prefer Christian practitioners for many reasons but the fundamental reasons are trust and commitment to Christ. If a healer is a liar or a cheat and if the healer is driven by evil intent then I want no relationship with him.

I intend to do a series on this subject prompted by recent events and after having seen this news documentary below, which is shocking. I remind my readers that I know of nobody in Nova Scotia, other than myself, who testified against Robert Strang, The Chief Medical Officer of Nova Scotia's behavior in a court of law. With that credibility, I am believed when I say that I show no favoritism. Criminals are criminals.

We, as a community, need to lift up the competent and good, and irradicate the incompetent and the evil.

Hint: Good and capable practitioners don't lie.

Below is a 60 minutes expose of a couple of bad apples unqualified to offer healing services to anyone.

In this video, people were hurt and killed by a naturopath. In our community, people have been hurt by Strang, inept doctors and liars who pretend to be healers called naturopaths. Lies on small matters = lies on important matters. It is a manifestation of a defective moral framework.

Breaking News

According to Peter Mac Isaac : The former lawyer for Elections Nova Scotia, Scott Campbell of Stewart McKelvie, has been appointed to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia - Sydney Court. Retired Patrick Russell's seat. That was reported in AllNovaScotia.com today.

According to the article, Scott Campbell of Stewart McKelvie, represented Elections Nova Scotia in a Judicial Review of ENS causing the Liberal party to take down campaign signs during the Preston by-election. The Supreme Court Ruled against Elections Nova Scotia's actions and Scott Campbell's arguments.
